HOW TO BECOME A MEMBER OF MSC
MSC is currently seeking new members who will participate in maintaining the club and in club management. If you are interested in becoming a voting member of Monticello Ski Club, the requirements are as follows:
Ability to commit time and pledge to be available for volunteer activities and participate in the operation of the club as requested and needed by the board and as required by the current BOR contract.
Volunteer and work (4) events including at least (2) work parties. All work party dates are announced via email. Other events will include BOR Lake cleanup events and Shred-Fest. Shred-Fest is traditionally scheduled for the last Saturday in July.
Be sponsored by a current good standing MSC member, this member will sponsor you into the club. This requires a current member to speak for your character, participation, and value in adding you to the club. Prospective members should show the ability to follow ALL the rules at the dock, most importantly safety. In addition they must blend well with other club participants, if other club participants have issues and report those to the board, the board may evaluate that during voting.
Attend (2) monthly club meetings and be introduced as a guest. After all requirements have been met, attend a 3rd meeting with your sponsor to request membership. Membership is granted by a club and board vote. The board reserves the right to finalize each membership vote. Meetings are held on the 2nd Sunday of each month from May through September at the dock at 1:00 p.m. However meeting dates & times are subject to change.
On approval, new members will be asked to sign a release of liability, pledge to participate in club operations, acknowledgement and agreement to abide by all safety and club rules. The initial cost is a one time initiation fee of $300 plus $50 for an optional guest pass. After that initial payment family membership will renew at a cost of $100 for all family members. Eligible family members include spouses and children up to 18 years old and up to 20 years old if claimed as a dependent on the member’s tax return.
Why Become a Member?
Benefits of membership include the ability to purchase a Guest Pass for your guests for an additional $50, you have the right to vote and have input on club development and issues, and family membership offers great value.
